ACNE

Over 90% of the population suffers from active acne to some degree, normally through their later teenage years. The acne resolves itself within 5 years for 70% of those individuals. For the remaining 30%, they will continue with what is known as adult acne. Whether your acne resolves itself or not, there is a significant chance, depending on the severity of the acne that you may suffer from acne scarring if you do not take steps to control it.

The usual GP or Dermatologist approach to treating acne is antibiotics. Some of which can be very aggressive and their effect can diminish over time as resistance grows.

At Claremont Skin Clinic, we believe in a less aggressive approach using a variety of well targeted and properly formulated treatment products and non-laser treatments to be effective in controlling acne.

Scarring may arise from acne and chicken pox through to an injury or from an operation and often causes embarrassment and low self-confidence. There is not always anything that can be done about scarring as it often depends on the type and severity of the problem.

However, for some types of scars, there are things that can be done. Facial skin peels and Microdermabrasion, often used in combination, will over a course of treatment reduce the appearance of superficial scarring.
